Nitrous Oxide Instructions

Nitrous Oxide Instructions

PLEASE READ PRIOR TO YOUR SURGICAL PROCEDURE

If you are scheduled for a surgical procedure under nitrous oxide sedation, please adhere to the following instructions prior to your appointment:

  1. Eating and drinking: Do not eat or drink anything for 2- to 3-hours prior to your appointment.

  2. Transportation: Arranging for a driver to take you home after your procedure is recommended but not required. The effects of nitrous oxide sedation wear off within minutes.

  3. Medications: You may take your usual medications with small sips of water prior to your appointment.

  4. Clothing: Please wear a short-sleeved shirt to facilitate blood pressure measurement at the start of your procedure.

  5. Pregnancy: If you are, or could possibly be pregnant, you must not have any form of sedation. Please notify office staff immediately, so that your procedure can be rescheduled.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS CONCERNING YOUR SURGICAL PROCEDURE, THE ANESTHETIC, OR ANY OF THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS, PLEASE DISCUSS THEM WITH YOUR SURGEON PRIOR TO TREATMENT.
